Classes

Most classes are taught in West Virginia on the beautiful Meadow, Gauley, and New Rivers.

Students must be in decent shape, comfortable in moving water, able to swim distance,  and comfortable with being in water for extended periods of time.

Level 4 Swiftwater Safety & Rescue Class                         2-Day (16 hrs.)
2023 Rate: $215 per person

This class gets you started in water rescue. We will go through all knots, anchors and mechanical advantages required for water rescue situations.

  • Learn techniques of swimming in flood water
    • Basic swimming in current
    • Swimming in and around obstacles, strainers and obstruction
  • Learn how to get across flooded water

Must have a minimum of 10 students for class.

Each student must have a minimum Type III PFD, helmet, whistle, knife, close-toed shoes, clothing for extended in water warmth.

Class meets or exceeds NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1670 standards and ACA (American Canoe Association) certification.

A deposit of 1/2 of the cost of the class is due when the class is confirmed and scheduled.

Rescue Class Fee

1/2 Rescue Class Fee

Level 4 Swiftwater Safety & Rescue; 1/2 Deposit Rescue Class Fee, per person. Full fee amount must be paid prior to class date.

Level 5 Advanced Swiftwater Safety & Rescue Class                           3-Day (24 hrs.)
2023 Rate: $315 per person

This training is ideal for anyone working on or at any lake, stream, or river such as Fire Departments, Rescue Teams, SAR Teams, rafters, kayakers, or canoeists. We will start with the Level 4 Awareness class then advance into:

  • How to move you and your team safely across moving water (operations level)
  • How to move equipment, victims in and across flooded water
  • Use vertical raise and lowering system (Tyrolean)

Must have a minimum of 10 students for class.

Each student must have a minimum Type III PFD (rescue vest preferred), helmet, whistle, knife, close-toed shoes, wetsuit or drysuit, clothing for extended in water warmth.

Class meets or exceeds NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 1670 standards and ACA (American Canoe Association) certification.

A deposit of 1/2 of the cost of the class is due when the class is confirmed and scheduled.

Advanced Rescue Class Fee

Level 5 Advanced Swiftwater Safety & Rescue Class Fee, per person. Full fee amount must be paid prior to class date.

Level 2 and Level 3 Introductory Classes
The courses described above are the most requested for rescue groups, however introductory classes for adults and youth unfamiliar with moving water are also available.  Please contact us for rates and course information.
